A wonderful c1940 Beachscape with moody overcast sky, by Australian artist Henry Edgecombe (1881-1954).
Edgecombe was born in NSW and studied as a young man at East Sydney Technical College and the Colarossis in Paris. In 1905 he spent time in Buenos Aires where he taught painting and drawing at the Kingsbury Academy before returning to Sydney in 1918, where he continued his teaching (East Sydney Tech) and also became a successful artist.

Exhibited eleven times in the Wynne Prize AGNSW between 1946-1951.
