Morning Light Beachscape, Douglas Pratt OBE (1900-1972)


Australian Beachscape, an artist’s view through the scraggly native trees to the sea and headland beyond.

Painted by Australian artist Douglas Pratt OBE (1900-1972).

Born in Katoomba NSW, Pratt studied art at the Royal Art Society NSW and Sydney Long’s School of Etching. He went on to have a successful career exhibiting throughout Australia, working in various mediums – oils, watercolours, pencil and etching.

Appointed to the Art Advisory Board in 1953, Vice President of the Royal Art Society NSW and awarded an OBE for his services to the Arts.

Oil on board, signed lower left, original wood & gesso frame. Titled verso.

In good original condition.
