Back Beach Sorrento, Alexander Aldridge (1908-1969)


A c1940’s Australian impressionist beachscape by listed artist Alexander Aldridge (1908-1969).

Aldridge was born in Liverpool England; migrated to Australia and studied at the Melbourne Technical College (now RMIT).

He went on to become a senior art teacher at South Melbourne Technical School, and artist/painter of impressionist landscapes, holding several exhibitions of his work between 1846-49 in Melbourne.

Oil on wood board, signed lower right A.Aldridge. Titled verso ‘Back Beach Sorrento’.

Vintage Melbourne framers label verso. The original wooden frame has been professionally stripped back to its natural wood and lightly white washed.

Professionally cleaned & ready to hang.
