A Vintage 1957 print of Pablo Picassos ‘Girl Before A Mirror’ framed behind art grade acrylic in a white washed tapered wooden frame.
The print retains great colour and definition and is laid down on its original masonite.
The printer’s mark and date FOR 1957, shows it was produced 25 years after Picasso painted the original oil painting in Paris during his Cubist period. The sitter is Marie Therese Walter, whom he painted many times during this period.
A visual feast of colour and pattern, the subject looks into a mirror to see an altogether different side of herself reflected back. Themes of youth and age, light and darkness, public face and private, create a dramatic and complex portrait, said to be one of Picassos favourite paintings.
Measures including frame: 76cm high, 62.5cm wide.
