A wonderful view of the Royal Palace Sogenfri Gardens in Copenhagen Denmark. Painted by the artist an incredible 140 years ago in the year 1884.
An excerpt from the Sorgenfri Palace and Gardens Website: Sorgenfri Palace Gardens is a tranquil, wooded natural garden laid out around the lake Lyngby Sø and Mølleådalen. Around 1800 the garden was converted from a Baroque to a Romantic garden, with winding paths and small buildings elegantly placed in the landscape, including ‘the Swiss House’, ‘the Grotto’ and ‘the Queen’s Well’.
Oil on canvas, monogram & date lower left GK ’84. Original side studding to the stretcher, hand written to the edge of the canvas ‘Sogenfri’.
Measures: 38cm high, 51.5cm wide.
