A French late 19th Century landscape of a tranquil lake scene.. ‘Scène Tranquille’.

The painting bears the 19thc French Parisian backstamp of Tasset et L’Hôte. They were artists colour merchants & canvas makers, with their little shop located at 31 Rue Fontaine, Paris (1885-1899).
Regular suppliers to artists such as Van Gogh, Alfred Sisley & Edgar Degas.
Van Gogh particularly liked their ordinary primed canvas, and ordered it by the roll during his Arles period, up until his death.

Oil on canvas, signed lower left (unknown artist). The painting sits in its original gilt wood frame with foliate and beaded border.

Measures including frame: 50.5cm high, 67.5cm wide.
