A romantic 19th Century epic landscape by listed British artist George B Yarnold (active 1874-76); known for his landscape paintings of naturalistic scenes of the Scottish Highlands and Wales.

This particular painting is of Pont-Y Pair Bridge in North Wales. The bridge was built in the 1500’s for the use of pack horses crossing the river, and was widened in the 1800’s to allow for the passage of horse carriages. On the horizon, a softly lit sky illuminates the misty mountain peaks of what is now knwn as Snowdonia National Park.
