Canal de Jardin by Lucie Lemonnier (1865-1950). C1890-1900
Lucie Lemonnier was a French female artist who studied and practiced her art in Montmarte, Paris around the age of 18 years old, circa 1883. She was influenced by the then under appreciated Impressionist artists of the time, and mingled within their circles. She initially studied in the Grande Chaumiere studio and eventually formed her own working space where she painted her landscapes. It is said that ‘her impressionist transparent style of painting gave her work a unique and particular depth.’
Later in life, she lived in Bléneau where she died in 1950. She is buried at the Bléneau cemetery.
