A 1968 Landscape by well known Australian artist William (Bill) Salmon (1928-2018).

His works are held in the collections of the Art Gallery NSW, Art Gallery of Queensland, the National Gallery and numerious regional collections. There is a wonderful transcript of James Gleeson interviewing Bill Salmon held at the National Gallery Australia as part of the James Gleeson Oral History Collection. Available to the public online.

Born in Geelong Victoria, Salmon studied at Swinburne Technical College 1946-1949, the George Bell School 1968, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Slade School of Art London, and Academia di Belle Arti Florence.

He taught at  the Adelaide School of Arts and East Sydney Tech. In 1963 he was asked by Jeffrey Smart to take over his art presenting role of the much loved ABC broadcast The Argonauts, and went on to become a popular art presenter, critic, and of course, artist.

Oil on canvas, signed & dated lower right Salmon 68. The painting sits in its contemporary wooden frame with gold slip.
