A Stunning signed, Ray Crooke, Silkscreen print (6/50).

Signed and numbered in pencil by the artist lower left, signed and dated ’73 in print lower right.

Professionally framed in dark brown, faux bamboo wood, using acid free materials to ensure archival presentation and longevity.

Ray Crooke (1922-2015); a much admired and collected Australian artist. he lived much of his life near Cairns, and was best known for his Gauguin inspired work of islander life in Fiji and the Tprres Strait, playing out a romance with the tropics that spanned decades.

In 1969, Crooke won the Archibald Prize with the portrait of his friend and neighbour, the writer George  Johnston. He painted two large murals for Australia House in London, and in 1993was made a member of the Order of Australia for services to the visual arts.
