Vintage early to mid 20th Century Portrait of a Bearded Gentleman, by female South Australian artist Leila Constance McNamara (1894-1973).
Born in South Australia in 1894, where she spent most of her life living in the Medindie area, Leila studied under revered portrait artist Leslie Wilkie, and seascape artist James Ashton. In Sydney her tutelage was with Dattilo Rubbo and James R Jackson.
Member of the Royal South Australian Society of Artists from 1915, becoming Vice-President in 1954-1961. Her exhibited paintings with the R.S.A.S.A won the landscape and still life prizes in 1926 and 1945.
