Cornish Antique c1880-1910 Seascape oil painting, by the notable British Marine artist William Ayerst Ingram (1855-1913).
Born in Twickenham, he was known to have travelled extensively, including travels to Australia where he became President of the Royal British Colonial Society of artists. For the majority of his adult life Ingram lived and practised throughout his life in Falmouth Cornwall, where he was a member of the Newlyn Art Colony and described by his friends as an energetic and active member of the artist community. He was a founding member of the Falmouth Art Gallery, which still exists to this day.
His works are held in several collections including:
AGNSW-Seascape titled ‘Near Exmouth’ 1888, Seven Marine works held at Falmouth Art Gallery, Royal Cornwall Museum and the Guildhall Art Gallery.
Memberships: Anglo-Australian Society-Founder & President, Royal British Colonial Society of Artists, Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Falmouth, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute in Water Colours.
Oil on academic board, signed lower left W.Ayherst Ingram.
The painting sits in its original antique frame, behind art grade acrylic and new matt board.
Measures including frame: 46cm high, 63cm wide.
The painting is in excellent original condition and ready to hang.
