Early 20th Century French Still Life; a table and vase, holding over flowing blossom tree branches and flowers.
Attributed to the celebrated and awarded French female classic novelist Mathilde Alanic (1864-1948). Considered French classic literature, many of her novels are held in libraries around the world, and are still available to purchase today.
It is not too surprising that a writer of sentimental novels and short stories, would on occasion swap her pen for a brush..to express herself in paint, rather than ink; if only meant for herself and not her readers/viewers.
Oil on canvas, signed lower right Mathilde Alanic. Original side studding to the wooden stretcher.
*See Pic: The photograph of the signature upon a green ground is lower right on the painting, the signature in pen on paper is the recorded signature of the writer Mathilde Alanic.
